Spanish Designers That Have Made It Into The International Scene

Spanish Designers That Have Made It Into The International Scene

Spanish fashion is known for its high-street brands: Zara, Massimo Dutti… but some of the biggest names in fashion are Spanish too, like Manolo Blahnik (yes, you probably heard of him through Sarah Jessica Parker) or Oscar de la Renta. Here’s a list of some of the Spanish designer brands that you may want to know about or that you probably didn’t know were Spanish.Spanish fashion is known for its high-street brands: Zara, Massimo Dutti… but some of the biggest names in fashion are Spanish too, like Manolo Blahnik (yes, you probably heard of him through Sarah Jessica Parker) or Oscar de la Renta. Here’s a list of some of the Spanish designer brands that you may want to know about or that you probably didn’t know were Spanish.

1. Balenciaga. Balenciaga has to be at the top of this list. Cristobal Balenciaga founded the maison in 1924, and was one of this designers that is, at first, more admired by other designers than by customers. In this past few years, Balenciaga has grown a lot and it’s responsible for some of the biggest trends on the market right now (Balenciaga triple S sneakers anyone?)

2. Loewe. If you like bags and purses and every other accessory, you need to know about this brand. They’re specialist in working with leather, and their bags are some of the most durable and sleek available. Some of their iconic designs are the Hammock and the Puzzle bags.

3. Palomo Spain. Palomo Spain is one of the Spanish emergent talents that are gaining a place in the international scene. The brand was the first one to go down the runway this last January in the Men’s Fashion Week in Paris and was one of the most spectacular ones. Their collections are unisex and he often dresses men in silk dresses, with lots of transparencies and very provocative designs.

4. DelPozo. Del Pozo is known for its simple and sleek silhouettes and for the use of patterns. Since Josep Font started designing for the brand a few years ago, their designs are known for their artistic value (a little bit of a Balenciaga reminiscence). Structured shapes and volumes are their signature look, and they’re big, and always been, on the statement earring trend. Worth checking it out.
