Fashion documentaries you must watch!
Whether you are applying for fashion school, apply for a fashion based job or just really are into fashion thanks to the creation and advancements of technology now everything is available for us to watch and stream with various apps and programs. For me, still, there is nothing like opening a newly bought book, feeling and smelling that 'new book' smell and flicking through like there's no tomorrow. But, I have to say watching a documentary of these inspiring people is just as amazing as reading about them. You get to travel into their world and they showcase some of their best work and inspire us all to design. Here are some of our top picks
The Boy Who Made Shoes For Lizards (2017)
This recent documentary follows the footsteps of one of the most acclaimed shoemakers, Manolo Blahnik. With top celebrities in the industry, such as Rihanna, Galliano and Karlie Kloss singing their praise to him in this must-watch movie if you are a fan of everything shoes!
Dior and I (2014)
This critically acclaimed documentary tells you the amazing story of Raf Simons's inauguration at the house of Dior. With the huge challenge of creating his debut couture collection as artistic direction for this house in just eight weeks. This movie follows Raf around in his intense and highly pressured journey, also seeing with clear detail the work of their hardworking seamstresses.
Absolutely Fashion: Inside British Vogue (2016)
To celebrate British Vogue's 100th birthday, the BBC was given a behind the scenes look of the closed doors of the HQ. Get close and personal with the key Vogue team members and see fashion top influencers. Alexandra Shulman also wrote a book of this kind called 'Inside Vogue' that same year and is also a great read into the behind of scenes of the magazine if you are left wanting more.
Mademoiselle C (2013)
If one Vogue story for you isn't enough this documentary is bound to make to awe in amazement as you dive into the world of editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld on her quest to find her new publication CR Fashion Book, following her departure from Condé Nast. With her debut magazine launching, follow her on her adventure.
House of Z (2017)
This Netflix documentary adheres to the formula in detailing the ups and downs of the American designer Zac Posen. He is a very young top designer compared to most at the moment which can be a little intimidating to some but has done very well for himself and is now loved by such celebrities as Beyoncé, Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz.
