How to take the best food pics
Half of you are probably rolling your eyes at the people taking pictures of their food before eating, but we take it very seriously! From the composition to the lighting – everything must be perfect.
LIGHTING IS THE KEY
It is hands down the most important part of taking pictures in general. You can make anything work in good lighting, so even if you order your go-to boring meal, it can look bomb in the pics. So yes, if you came to the restaurant with a goal of posting a new Instagram post today – sit near the windows where the natural light can easily reach you. Or other way even your 30$ spaghetti will not look post worthy.
PLAY WITH COMPOSITIONS
It’s pretty boring looking post with only one plate of your meal, so go on and play around to make it look good. Get something to drink, throw on some accessories, use any decorations nearby and make it look like it’s all effortlessly natural.
CHOOSE A SIMPLE BACKGROUND
You don’t want your picture to look all over the place and too chaotic. Choose a simple neutral colored background, because the food is colorful and texturized itself. Go on and use that wooden table or marble tray for a good cause.
THROW IN SOME MOVEMENT
If you want to make it look even more natural, take pictures just before or at the very start of eating, when everyone is getting ready. This way you will get some proper artsy hand action, helping you to capture the real moment and the food will still look appropriate to photograph.
After taking a picture, it’s time to edit. Don’t use any over the place effects or tools. Stick to playing around with highlights, shadows, contrasts and brightness. Add just a bit of touch to your pictures, just don’t over do it.
