Sunday Morning Remedies
Sundays are essential for surviving the stress of in the week studies, work, conferences, meetings... we need a day to just lay low and take it easy to get ready again for a jam packed week. I have a few tips and tricks for fully enjoying and taking advantage of your 'lazy' Sunday, so that you really do feel relaxed and rested for the storm again on Monday.
1. Wake up early
So... you may be thinking why would i want to wake up early? Well, the whole of fully enjoying a day of detox and relaxation is being awake and doing things you can't do in week. So waking up early is key. I will always wake up around 9.00 am (so still a bit of a lie in compared to in the week) and start the day with a soothing bath, candles and catch up on my fav Netflix shows or a really good book.
2. Turn off notifications
Sometimes on Sundays we cannot fully disconnect because we are on our phones all day looking at junk and we end up looking at our emails with past work and finish it on that day causing us to actually work on our peaceful Sunday. Disconnect from everything internet based and social media and just focus on you.
3. Cook a great meal
On my free day i like to do as many things as i can that i don't normally do in the week because i don't have time. Every day in the week i prepare quick meals on the go or overpriced packet sandwiches that are not that tasty. So on my chilled Sunday I always like to make an effort in making a nice home cooked meal. It doesn't have to be anything super complicated, but its nice to make the effort for your family or even just yourself.
4. Go for a walk
When you are out of the house all day nearly everyday, sometimes Sundays can feel a little claustrophobic if you stay at home all day. I always recommend going for a lovely walk before Lunch to build an appetite. In Winter its great because you go out a little and get some fresh air and then after at home get lovely and cosy with some hot food. And its great in Summer because its nice to enjoy the sun as much as possible.
At the end of the day, you choose whatever is best for you to disconnect on a Sunday. Just make sure to actually relax your body and especially your mind from a hard week at work. Whether it's with a relaxing bath, cleaning, doing exercise, watching TV, reading, drawing or any other hobby that you may have, just enjoy it and try not to think about anything work or school related, it's your day off, so take advantage of that.
